Nick Read, former chief executive at wholesaler Nisa, has been appointed group chief executive at the Post Office.
Read, who will join the Post Office in September, has 25 years’ experience across sectors including retail, travel and banking.
He joined Nisa in 2015 with a remit to stabilise its finances, before stepping down at the end of 2017.
Read previously held senior roles at Tesco, Thomas Cook, Vodafone, HBOS and Lloyds Banking Group and Extra Energy. He began his retail career at Aldi.
Post office chairman Tim Parker said: “Nick brings to the Post Office a wealth of experience from a range of sectors, including convenience retail, banking, and travel, with a strong track record of commercial success. I look forward to working with Nick to create a stronger more resilient business.”
Read said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the business towards a sustainable and successful future, meeting the commercial challenges of a rapidly changing world while at the same time cementing and enhancing the role post offices play in the communities they serve.”
