THE Speaker of the House of Commons reopened a Post Office in a pub near Bicester last week.
John Bercow cut the red tape at the relocated facility in Marsh Gibbon on Friday.
Bemused children looked on at The Plough, on Church Street, as the Buckingham MP officially opened the facility, giving residents access to the restored local service.
Sporting a flamboyant multi-coloured tie, Mr Bercow did not appear distracted by the pints and stamps on offer as he wielded a giant pair of red scissors at the ceremonial event.
The opening would have come as a welcome distraction for the speaker, who has faced a series of damaging bullying allegations and calls to resign in recent weeks. He has been in office for nine years.
He did appear to be keeping the children in better order than MPs, though the youngsters looked far less excitable than Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn's troops.
Marsh Gibbon's old Post Office branch, on Station Road, closed temporarily in July 2017.
