Branches across the country were reportedly affected

The Post Office has explained why a number of branches across Somerset were forced to close this morning.

A number of post offices across the county, which according to social media reports included Yeovil , Taunton and Bath , were forced to restrict their services due to wider nationwide connectivity issues that affected their ability to serve customers.

A spokeswoman for the Post Office has confirmed that while there were temporary issues, these have now been resolved and all branches are now functioning as normal.

She said: “We are aware that some of our branches experienced connectivity issues this morning. This has been resolved and we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
