A memorial bench is set to be unveiled outside a Post Office where a popular and well-loved Arnold lady used to work.

Pat Morris was a familiar face behind the counter of the Post Office on Worrall Avenue for 23 years, becoming hugely popular with her customers and the community.

The 66-year-old, who was originally from Carlton but had been an Arnold resident for 40 years, died suddenly on October 19.

The next day the Post Office set up a condolence book for people to write their messages in, which was signed by hundreds of people.

Now her family – three children, John Morris, 45, Wayne Morris, 42 and Leanne Handy, 40, as well as five grandchildren and one great-grandchild - want to keep her memory alive.

A memorial bench is set to be unveiled outside the Arnold Post Office on April 21 at 10.30am.

Friends, family and MP for Gedling Vernon Coaker will be in attendance. The memorial bench will have an inscription and love heart on it.

Her daughter Leanne Handy, 40, told the Post: "I was going to have a bench in my garden.

"My brother is a postman and his friend said 'why don't you have one outside the Post Office?' I thought that was a great idea because she is really missed by everyone.

"There was a collection box put up in the post office and one of our friends has given a large donation."

The bench costs around £1,000 in total.
