Mystery surrounds closure of Lincoln Post Office whose doors have been shut for two weeks

Officials have remained tight-lipped as to why the Post Office in Hykeham Road in Lincoln has been closed.

The store has been closed since February 6 "until further notice" and there is no indication as to when it will reopen.

The Post Office will not disclose any information regarding why it closed suddenly despite efforts from Lincolnshire Live.

A local resident who contacted Lincolnshire Live about the closure said: "It's been closed for two weeks. On Tuesday, February 6, a notice went up to say it's closed until further notice.

"It will be difficult for old folk if they have not got transport."

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We sincerely apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Hykeham Road Post Office.

“We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services.


"We would like to reassure customers that the decision to suspend services at any of our branches is never taken lightly.

"We take very seriously any decision to temporarily close a branch, and will only do so when it is warranted.

“We are working hard to restore services for the community as quickly as possible.”
