Extended opening hours as Post Office modernisation programme continues

The Post Office has continued with its modernisation programme which has targeted more than 8000 branches and 3400 community branches since it was announced in 2012.

Latest stores to be modernised include Skegness’ Wainfleet Post Office, which will become a Post Office ‘local’ service, relocating to Costcutter on Market Place in Wainfleet later this month.

The move will see opening hours for Post Office services at the store increase by nine hours per week, opening earlier and closing later each day. Services available include Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns and banking services banking services.

Post Office regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”

Other Post Office branches due to be modernised this month include a refurbishment for the Westminster Bridge Road Post Office, and Bacup Post Office on Burnley Road, which will see opening hours extended to 46 hours per week.
