Consultation launched to relocate Curry Rivel post office to nearby Shell garage

CURRY Rivel post office could relocate to the Shell garage on Taunton Road, under new plans published by Royal Mail.

A public consultation has been launched to close the existing branch on High Street and create a "local plus" branch within the garage 300 metres away.

Royal Mail says that the move would enable the post office to remain open for a further 65 hours every week and lead to more convenient customer service.

The vast majority of the existing post office's services would carry across to the new site, with the exceptions being road tax renewal and on-demand travel insurance.

Regional manager Julia Marwood said: "We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Curry Rivel, and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."

The public now has until November 18 to give their feedback on the proposals, while could be implemented as early as January next year.

Residents can have their say by emailing comments@postoffice.co.uk, calling 03457 22 33 44, posting written comments to Freepost, Your Comments, Post Office Ltd., or by visiting http://www.postofficeviews.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and entering the branch code 174549.
VERY IMPORTANT AND INFORMATIVE CORONAVIRUS THREAD HERE
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low life c***s they have always been.
