A GLOUCESTERSHIRE woman says she will continue her late father's fight for compensation after the Post Office Horizon scandal 'destroyed' her family's life.
Rebecca Armstrong, 34, moved to Brockworth with her parents after they sold their Bexhill-on-Sea post office business to meet alleged debts arising from unexplained accounting shortfalls.
Her father, Jonathan 'Jono' Armstrong, died from a heart attack last October, aged 58.
Ms Armstrong said he had spent more than a decade struggling with the consequences of being accused of theft from the Post Office branch he ran with his wife, Sarah.
Mr Armstrong was among thousands of sub-postmasters affected by faults in the Horizon computer system, which recorded apparent deficits in branch accounts.
The Post Office later faced widespread criticism after many sub-postmasters were wrongly blamed, suspended, prosecuted or pressured to repay money.
Ms Armstrong said auditors visited the family's branch in 2014 after shortfalls had reached tens of thousands of pounds.
Her father drove to Beachy Head intending to take his own life, but was talked down by emergency services after she travelled to the scene.
He was later sectioned and spent several weeks receiving hospital and supervised residential care, she said.
The family sold their business and moved to Gloucestershire to be closer to Ms Armstrong's siblings.
