A thief has been sentenced after stealing cash from a safe in an Oxfordshire village Post Office.

Mathew Wint, of Featherstone, Staffordshire, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on December 22.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of burglary.

The court heard that between February 12 and 14 2022, Wint stole £200 from a safe at Little Milton Post Office.

Peter Du Feu, mitigating, said that there had been 17 years since Wint's last conviction.

The Judge, Mr Recorder Louis Weston, handed Wint an 18-month community order.

This involves Wint having to complete 12 rehabilitation activity requirement days and have trail monitoring for four months.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation to the victims within two years.
