A bus firm has launched a probe after a coach crashed into the building of a post office in Inverness this morning.

The double-decker Stagecoach vehicle was impaled on the protruding storefront on Queensgate shortly after 9am this morning, Thursday March 3.

The coach, displaying a 'Not In Service' banner, appeared to have mounted the pavement beside the bus stop and struck the building.

A corner of a ledge above the post office speared through the top-deck window.

Several locals gathered around the coach following the shock incident.

No passengers were on board at the time of the crash and there are not believed to have been any injuries.

Council workers were brought in to assist in the clean-up of the smash.

Stagecoach confirmed they have launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Highland said: "We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident in Inverness City Centre shortly after 9am this morning.
