Started 2nd Dec 1am night shift- First day went well enough other than struggling to find tasks for us to do after 6, managers were running around like headless turkeys most the time giving us pointless tasks like push 'one' york each before disappearing.
Second day - Hours cut until 7.
Third day - Told our shift would be cut until 6 and that we were lucky that we were on nights as they just stood down a day shift.
Fourth day - Told not to come in until Monday.
Today - I ring up and then get told I'm not needed for the entire period.
That pretty much sums up my experience as a christmas casual I guess, I'm actually at a financial loss from doing the job as I invested in work clothes & bike equipment prior to starting.

Christmas Casual shift cancelled after just three days
My niece was a RM Christmas casual last year sorting in a mail centre, they finished all the casuals early a week before the planned date?

They didn't even give us a week, I don't know if they kept any of the casuals from my shift and I was just a short straw however I got a feeling they overhired to cope with the strikes which didn't come about.twoloops wrote:My niece was a RM Christmas casual last year sorting in a mail centre, they finished all the casuals early a week before the planned date?
On letters there were eleven of us doing the job of six and literally no work after 6am.
