Induction day - what to expect?

Induction day tomorrow, what can I expect?

Says 8 hrs which sounds like it’s a long day, what can they talk about for that long? Not held at the location I will be working so can’t include a tour around.

Nerves are starting to get to me

Mine was a quick tour of the mail center it was held at, alot of health and saftey stuff, a bit of what royal mail is about.
Mine went over really quick, we started at 9 and finished about 3 45 with 3 breaks inbetween.

Thanks for replying. That doesn’t sound too bad, went through it when I did the job 12 yrs ago but I know a lot has changed since then. Think we finished a little early then.

Hi Lisa! My induction day is tomorrow - getting super nervous about starting! Would be interested to know how long your induction lasts and what it was like?

Mine was three months ago. It's some team-building stuff, some explanations of the structure of Royal Mail as an organization and what they do, some health and safety stuff, and a talk from the Union rep. Basically nothing even tangentially related to what you'll actually be doing once you start work, but it's paid so nevermind!

That’s exactly like mine was today. Still don’t have a clue what I will be doing tomorrow, just filled with dread after the not so encouraging intro. Assume we get another ‘induction’ tomorrow

It was all corporate stuff, nothing really about the job other than being told the handset watches your every move, as does the van. Much the same as in my last job but being told ‘big brother is watching you’ is not the best intro! Hoping I will be told more about the job tomorrow when I start.

One conflicting bit of info we got was about uniform. HR told me to order once a I got my payroll no. which I did, and the order people said it would be waiting for me on my first day - 5 tops, 2 bottoms, shoes, hi viz & fleece. Today it was suggested we get nothing for a month and then we only get tops & bottoms, we wait 12 weeks for fleece, shoes & other items. Will see tomorrow.
