How long did your security checks take?

Just wondering how long security checks have taken for others?

I have been given a conditional offer with a start date that I'll need to hand my notice in soon for but I am awaiting security checks so trying to work out on average how long they are taking!

Mine took a week from changing from ‘pre employment checks’ on my royal mail profile to receiving the email to say I’d passed. However it was much longer from when they actually told me they were going to do the checks if that makes sense?

Here’s my timeline which may help

Interview 21/12/18
Email to say I’d passed interview and they would be doing security checks 24/12/18
Email asking for access to dvla record 24/12/18
I emailed RM as I’d heard nothing and profile still said ‘in progress’ 17/01/19
Profile changed to ‘pre employment checks’ 18/01/19
Email received to say I’d passed security checks 23/01/18
Secure email received with formal offer 25/01/19

Mine is showing as pre employment checks at the minute as of wednesday, im hoping to hear soon! I cant think of any reason at all why I wouldnt pass which is making me want to just get the notice put in now!!!

How long is your notice period?

My induction day isn’t until 18th Feb so pretty much a month after receiving formal offer. So I would probably hang fire as your start date from RM will take into account whatever notice period you told them you have to give

They have given me a start date taking into account my notice period but from the conditional offer, so Ill either need to put the notice in in the next few days or defer the start date a little
