Frustrating process

Post by HTPostman »

I applied on 18th August for a delivery job about 5 miles from where I live. The job was actually posted that very same day on the careers site. On the application it said interviews would be 6th September, which is now a mere week away. I completed the online test within 20mins of receiving it. Not to sound cocky or anything, but I worked for Royal Mail for 2 and a half years, leaving 7 years ago on good terms. I know I'll have done very well in the online test, as I say I did the test 9 years ago and while things will have changed I'm confident I'd know most of the ins and outs of the job. I also did the extended van test while I was employed there so again I would've thought having done the job before I'd be at an advantage.

But as things stand I've yet to recieve any further emails, been checking multiple times every day (plus obviously checked junk/spam folder too). I know things run slowly but if the interview is indeed a week away it doesn't leave me much time to arrange time off - luckily my boss is off next week so I can sneak away for an interview.

Just frustrating really....looking at other posts on here it seems emailing to ask for an update is likely to annoy HR rather than speed things up.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It's on big waiting game, they really are quite useless.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I'm having similar process problems to becoming a postman, 1st time I applied and having 24 hours to reply for the test, it unfortunately got lost amongst other emails so I missed the opportunity .
2nd time I got to the interview slot stage but 2 hours later the position was withdrawn so was left disappointed.

I have now applied for the 3rd time, done the test and Interviews are to be held on Tuesday, it is now Sunday and heard nothing, I have booked the time off work again and now think it's very unlikely to hear something on Monday one day before the interviewing day ? is it possible to be given an interview invite at very short notice one day before ? in my profile it still says TESTING COMPLETE not marked unsuccessful

Thank you for reading and sorry to HTpostman for adding to your topic but your title seemed so appropriate.

Kind regards.

Just as a quick update I go for my induction tomorrow then start the job on Wednesday. To anyone getting frustrated like I was, just keep going as you'll get there in the end.
