contracted working hours

Post by skinnymat »

Originally i applied for a postman job nearer to me with the hours being 9am - 3pm for 30 hours but got put onto a waiting list. I applied for a similar job at a different office but the hours say 11am - 6pm for 30 hours.

Anyone know what actual hours i will be working as it says delivery and collections. I am ok with these during the week and will do any overtime there is to make up some hours but don't really want to be there till 6pm on a saturday.

It all depends on the local set up. But the hybrid duties (Deliveries/Collections) at mine work earlier on a Saturday - yours may be the same - but it might not be.

Thanks for the reply. I am open to any hours during the week but want to be able to go to the football at 3pm on a Saturday. How flexible are the managers or does it just depend on each depot?

It does depend on the managers, but if your contract means you work on a Saturday up to 6 pm, then that's what they'll expect. Unfortunately, and this is to inform not scare, Royal Mail has a universal obligation and a legal duty to deliver certain items within a certain timescale. If there is work to do and you have hours remaining then it is unlikely they will let you finish early on a regular basis.
