Hi
I'm due to start soon as a postwoman with driving. I'm unsure of what to wear on my feet as obviously going to be doing lots of walking. A lot of people are saying to wear trainers but I don't think my nike air max will be comfy for walking all day. can anyone advise on what's best please. Do yu know if sketchers are worth the money & comfy too?
Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated
Been waiting over 3 months for checks etc to go through so I'm feeling very excited but abit nervous at the same time after reading a lot of posts on here. It looks like I'm entering into a mad house lol. about getting a start date...finally!!!!!!
Thanks in advanve to all that reply xx

First of all welcome. Check out these 2 threads http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =1&t=27513" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ADVICE FOR NEW POSTIES and http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =1&t=50015" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Advice FROM new starters

Get fit - you'll be walking between 9 and 15 miles a day.

Get decent and hard wearing clothes and shoes as you won't get uniform straight away. Ideally cargo trousers, the pockets are ideal for the different stuff you carry as a postie, but not jeans as when they get wet you will suffer. Shoes, ideally trainers with good ankle and arch support, trainers because they are light and your ankles and arches will suffer for a while when you start. (the knees starting going after about 10 years :Very Happy )

Also make sure you have a drink with you whatever the weather, even in winter it's possible to dehydrate. I usually have around 1 litre of water every day.

Most of all ignore the doom and gloom on here, it's mostly people venting frustrations. Like most jobs it's down to what you make of it, there will be crap days and there will be brilliant ones, get through the first 3 months or so and its pretty good job.

Oh and join the Union, there is a dispute coming and as a new starter, the changes Royal Mail want to implement cold have a big impact on you.
