Waiting list process

Post by Gordonparrish1 »

Hi guys,

I had an interview at a DO a couple of weeks back but didn't get the job. I did pass the interview and am now on the waiting list. Ajob came up in my village yesterday and I've applied using the waiting list link. The email said to not complete the online testing as the previous test and email should apply. When I look at job management on my profile it says 'testing' rather than assessment. Is this normal? Is there anything else I need to do? Contact the DO I've applied to?

How long does it usually take to hear back from a DO after using the waiting list?

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for any help.

I was on a waiting list too, I applied for a job in DO near me on Monday 13th Feb and had an email on Friday 17th Feb saying I had passed the assessment and to send my 5 year work history. Going through security checks now so hopefully not too long left to wait!

Fingers crossed you hear back soon

Sorry also no you don't have to complete the online tests now you've passed them so just ignore that email and the status I wouldn't worry about mine hasn't changed for weeks

Thanks guys.

Still waiting to hear. I hope they let me know either way there's a couple of other local ish ones I could apply for if I'm not successful. I wish they let you apply for more than one at any one time.

Well I haven't heard anything and the jobs been removed from the careers site now. Tried phoning HR but was met with a recorded message saying they won't be able to help. I thought I'd have more success being On the waiting list and living about 500 yards from the DO. It's a shame they take so long to get back to you and you can only apply for one at a time etc...a couple of other local jobs have been and gone off the site since.

So I've just had an email saying I've passed and I'm now on the security checks. Great!

Then I had a call from a mobile number who turned out to be the manager at the DO. She left a voicemail telling me to phone to arrange an interview as it's going to be very different from where I was interviewed before. This doesn't seem right to me? I was under the impression I had passed the interview process and didn't have to do any of that stuff now. What's the point of the waiting list if this is not the case?

Gordon go over to the delivery office and ask to speak to the delivery office manager. Explain the situation and they might be able to help. You will find the DOM is just as eager to fill the vacancy as you are.

Good luck

So I went in and it was more of an introduction. The manager there was just introducing me to that DO to make sure I was definitely interested before committing. She was really nice. She's speaking to HR now the get the ball rolling and I'm currently doing the security checks. I'm really chuffed. 30 hour contract and less than a quarter of a mile from my home in my local village.

I had an interview on 28th of Feb , received an e mail at 13:53 on 03/03 telling me I was successful , at 13:54 I had another one telling me I was unsuccessful. I had passed the interview but there were higher scoring candidates, at 14:00 I got another e mail telling me to ignore the previous 2 e mails and would be placed on a 3 month waiting list . On Tuesday the 14th I received a call from Royal Mail recruitment. I apologised and asked her to call back after 4 or on Wednesday morning as, at the time I was actually at work with my current job and it was a little awkward at the time . To date they haven't got back to me :arrrghhh . I don't know whether it's incompetence or just arrogant in thinking candidates will hang about waiting to be contacted by RM or decline other employment offers if offered from another company on the strength of an offer that may or may not come from RM .

You still need to apply for jobs on the waiting list rather than wait for them to contact you. It just means you'll get priority and won't have to interview or do tests again.

Thanks Gordon ,
After reading posts on here regarding getting phone calls from The Recruitment team , it usually means they were about to make me a verbal offer of a position . The only other thing I can think of is my reluctance to discuss it with her on the phone made em think " Well sod him ! If he can't be bothered to talk to me I won't call him back . Anyway I have other options with other companies so not too disappointed not getting a call back . Just seems a very peculiar way to recruit new staff .

I had an interview on 21st April shortly after I received the email saying that on this occasion I had been unsuccessful but that I had been placed on a priority waiting list and if a local job came up, I needed to apply using the link on that email. A vacancy did come up and I applied, but yet again I had an email saying I was unsuccessful and I could apply for another vacancy if one come up. Another job has come up and I have applied I am waiting as the interviews are due to take place 1st June. The whole process seems to be taking for ages, or am I just wasting my time?
