Is it easy to change Delivery Offices?

Post by mattandbenny »

So basically I passed my interview for Bradford South delivery office a couple of months ago but was not offered the job and was put on the waiting list. A month ago they advertised for the same delivery office and i applied as a waiting list candidate. A couple of weeks later i received a conditional offer and am currently going through security checks.

However i got an automated email today from royal mail about career opportunities, and turns out they are advertising 2 positions for Brighouse Delivery Office - which would be a much better location to work. Just wondered what people's advice were - obviously i don't wan't to jeopardize the possibility of getting the Bradford South job, but is there any way i could ask to be considered for the Brighouse one? Or would it be easier to just start at Bradford South and ask to be transferred after a few months - is it easy to transfer between Delivery Offices?

Don't wan't to appear ungrateful as i am absolutely delighted to get this Bradford South offer!

Any advice appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that you have to be with the company for at least a year before you are allowed to apply for a transfer. If the 2 offices are local to each other there may be other arrangements between them tho.

Don't know if it would go against you to make it clear early on that you'd rather be elsewhere? Maybe wiser to get the further away job, stick with it commuting, then hope that a more local job turns up in late 2017?
