Interview tomorrow

Post by Decpassat06 »

Hi everyone,
My name is Declan, I was wondering if someone could answer a couple of questions. I recently applied for a postman job and received an email 2 week ago to attend an interview, the interview is tomorrow and I'm starting to panic a little. I'm unsure what to wear I was planning on just going in my good pair of jeans and a smart top, but I'm starting to think this will not look professional enough. Also after the interview how long does it normally take to hear something back? lastly with regards to the CRB check I got a reprimand when i was 16, i am now 23 and never been in bother since, is this something I should worry about?

Jeans and shirt will do. I heard within 3 days i was successful at the interview. Depends on what the reprimand was for, if you was 16 it might not show on your dbs after 6 years. I might be wrong though.

Oh and just be honest about any unspent convictions. I was honest about mine and the interviewer seemed quite happy to carry on. Im sure if it was anything serious they would just stop the interview if they know for sure you're not employable.

I read this thread only today. My personal opinion is never go to an interview with jeans, always a suit, even a Primark one, or at least trousers and shirt. Anyway, I might be totally wrong and with RM jeans and a top are OK.

Agree with the posters above, if there's two or more candidates who are equal in all other aspects, being that bit smarter could just swing it for you.

You can 'dress down' to a degree when you've got the job......

I dug out the wedding/funeral/'bit of a do' suit for my interview - worked for me!

Hi everyone, thanks for all the replies, unfortunately I got some of your replies abit late so I went with a nice pair of jeans and a top. The interview lasted over an hour and seemed to go well, he kept calling me a good lad and saying good when answering the questions, towards the end when being asked about the safety questions I think I did well but froze on one question, but to my surprise he helped me a little. I feel it went well but there's 5 positions avalible and there's loads of people in for them so I don't think I will get offered a job, I'll keep you updated thanks again
