Hey I've recently started working for Royal Mail. I'm expecting an important letter that I need to receive early doors. I'm wondering if I went to my local delivery office, before I start my shift at my own office, would I be able to collect my mail before its delivered? I'll have ID and be in my posty uniform. Just looking to see if anyone knows if that is possible?
Cheers

Chances are that it won't have arrived there before you start your shift. Will the letter have been sent yet? If it hasn't perhaps ask the sender to address it to you at the DO that you work at

Thanks for the reply. I've been told by the sender that it was posted on Friday, so there's a good chance it will arrive today. Due to being part time, I don't start until 9 o'clock in my office. So the mail should be in before my shift. I'm just wondering on protocol on this matter, if the letter has arrived would I be allowed to collect or must it be delivered?

It might depend partly on if the letter is machinable, if it is then it'll get sequenced along with all the mech letters. Offices nearest the MC get their sequenced mail last (those furthest away get theirs first). Second wave of sequencing might not arrive till after you'd have to make your way to the DO you work at. Is the letter being posted from somewhere covered by the same MC as that which covers your DO? Any idea if it was posted 1st or 2nd class?

I went before my shift, and they allowed me to take my mail away once I provided ID, but not the item I was waiting on. May possibly be in the 2nd feed
