Other higher scoring candidates
Hi, just received an email notifying me that I didn't get the job of postman with driving, as there were "other higher scoring candidates". Does anyone know how the "scoring system" works, having passed the interview and been put on a 3 month waiting list? and is there any likelihood of a position coming up within that period. Gutted... to say the least!!!

Re: Other higher scoring candidates
I have not done recruitment at RM, but once I did sit in a recruitment day. Basically they score your answers at the interview on a scale of 1 to 10 (Crap answer - to - should be a CEO) and then add the scores at the end. In most interviews without them even realising it they'll even score your personality, body language, clothes and how open you are. Its a lottery but if there are loads of candidates all with similar CVs the scoring system may just pinch it for a borderline.
On the day I was sitting in on the interviews they didn't hire one bloke because he was the only one with a jacket but no tie so he lost a few points on presentation. It sometimes can something as simple as that.

As to the waiting list, I was on it for 3 months and got an offer 2 months in. The good news, for you, is that we are just ramping up for Christmas so you are more likely yo get an offer than at any other time of the year.

Hiya, I was told at interview that if I was unsuccessful and placed on waiting list I would almost certainly get a post as people are always leaving. Good luck!

Re: Other higher scoring candidates
Hey there
I got the same news in early June. A post then came up in another office nearby, a couple of weeks later which I applied for and was put forward for at the beginning of July.
Heard that I'd got it at the end of July and I start next week.
Hang on in there! When I was put on the waiting list and was trawling this forum, the general consensus seemed to be that you are more likely than not to get a job when you are on the waiting list.
Good luck.....

Re: Other higher scoring candidates
I was on the waiting list too for about 5 weeks and a job came up at the next local office so I put myself forward and have been in the job a week. On my induction two others had been on the waiting list so it's quite likely something will come up.

I applied and was interviewed in July, was told other higher scoring candidates etc bit had passed the interview and was on a waiting list, then re applied for another role but was told the vacancies no longer existed!
I applied for another role on 20 September, will I get any response from the myappplication address? Or is it hit and hope?
I was hoping that as a waiting list candidate I would get an offer, but once I send in my "Waiting list Candidate" email I have no idea who or If I will get a reply!
Thanks.

I sent my "waiting list candidate" email and got an email over a week later to say I'd been put forward for the job.

Thanks for replying Movingon, I will wait and see if I get a reply!movingon wrote:I sent my "waiting list candidate" email and got an email over a week later to say I'd been put forward for the job.
My frustration with the entire process is a total lack of communucation, no one has actually told me at any time that they have my email, are processing it etc etc, the last one I sent appears to have been totally ignored.
Good luck with your own role.
