Just a quick question for those who have been on or know staff who have been on fixed term contracts.....Is this the way Royal Mail operate to see if staff are competent enough before they start issuing permanent jobs/contracts?? In your experience do staff normally get kept on...only on 3 month fixed term but was told that so long as im not crap (actual words) they dont normally let people go...hoping to be here for the long haul.
many thanks.

Yes most get kept on....and on....and on....
Only the office going through a revision could put a spanner in the works, even then that's a bit rare as most are kept on anyway.
Will also take a few years to get a permanent contract tho.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
