Contract arrived

Post by anonymous1994 »

My contract has arrived today and under the payment section it says my pay would be " £365 per week (pro rata for part time)"
I presume this means if I'm doing 28 hours then pay per week would be around £250, is this before or after tax because I was expecting about £250 after tax...

Also is there much chance for overtime, I really need to get as much as possible?

Thats Gross, but during your first year as long as your trial is okay, the pay goes up by 50p an hour every six months.

Join the CWU straight away as well to help make sure you get paid when you work over on your own round, which is likely for the first few months.

Overtime, depends on the staffing of the office but generally yes, though you'll be knackered for the first few weeks, as your body adjusts, you might not want to.

I'm used to a lot of walking and physical activity anyway so it shouldn't be a problem.
How do I go about joining the union, do I need to wait untill I start?

Technically no you can join any time, but I'd suggest waiting till you do.

You should be introduced to the local rep at some point, and you can join online.

As to the physical activity, I am an ex-serviceman and I struggled, as do a lot of us. Its not that it's any harder than what you are used to, its that you have very little time to recover, and its constant.

Not right this second no but at the stroke of 9am on the 12th of May I will be lol
It's only 6 hours a day it's not exactly a marathon, I may be underestimating it but it seems pretty reasonable considering I'm still young (20) but I shall see.
What's the website to join the union?
