Advice for postman job interview.

Post by f40spider »

Hi all

I have my first Royal Mail Postman Interview next week.

A bit nervous and just want to know what kind of things I'll be asked at the interview. Not too bothered about how I'll answer them I am confident in that respect

New to this site haven't really "figured" out how to use it properly.

Forgive me if this has been asked a zillion times.

Also how is the job really, first hand experience & stuff of how you find it.

Cheers, Chris

standard things to be honest

1. Why do you want to work for RM.
2. Give us an example of when you worked as a team and solved a problems.
3. Give us an example of when you worked alone and solved a problem.
4. An example of working to a tight deadline.
5. General fitness.

Sure I can think of something.

Should I be nervous or not ?

How long after an interview also are you told if successful or not.

I have been in the job for 6 months and its awesome, family never had me happier. The only job I don't want a day off from! The rain would not stop me playing footy why should I moan working in it when I get paid too? As for the interview ...... Hammer them with health and safety, they love it apparently ? Hey I'm in now so must of said something right. Good luck!!! And make sure you have done your homework about the company. :cuppa

Lifting with your knees not your back, keep aware of the area around you, including strangers and dogs. That sort of thing except don't introduce it randomly :chuckle just when its appropriate.

Yes - if you interview better when nervous - I do.

Depends on so many factors. I was told I was successful at the interview but that I was going on a waiting list - 3 months later I started. My mate who started after me was different, he did not get any indication but was offered a position 1 week later (that was before they started doing the background checks)

Be aware that Royal Mail deliver letters as well as parcels due to online shopping and ebay, despite the email and mobile texting, and bpm the elders still send letters and companies also send out bills and flyers. Many companies advertise through the letter box. Royal Mail is a group including parcel force and the post office. Dealing also with supplying savings, bureau de change, Internet service, paying bills.collecting pensions and benefit ( pay point ).
When your told about your success you will be at stage 4 of 8 I think of the process. They will have to over the position, you accept. Then a start date, then an induction day, (watching DVD on Do and don't of being a posty, ai had a quiz about the company ... Just for fun,and then an assessment on your manual handling . Good luck and get there in plenty of time, don't arrive last minute sweating and panicking .
