Easiest and Shortest Job Interview Ever

Post by Jonathan Alsatian »

It lasted about 10 minutes. As soon as I told him I'd done the job before for a few months via an agency and that I think overtime is great and that I know how to do a van check he was happy. He told me there and then that I was successful and that he would get recruitment to contact me within a few days and I would then be able to hand my notice in at my current job.

I've read the sticky thread about recruitment timescales so I am thinking maybe this manager was a bit optimistic about how quickly they can get me in? Sounds like I might be waiting for recruitment to get round to me. My application is still marked as being at the stage of "assessment/interview".
I reckon its best not to hand my notice in until I have passed all the security checks and had a definite offer. The job advert is still up too. I've not had an email saying I have been successful either. Its only been two weeks since the interview so maybe early days and too soon to email either recruitment or the DOM who interviewed me?

Often (and it's been mentioned on these boards too) someone has a similar result at an interview but in the meantime
someone already in RM might transfer in from another office, the office might decide there's not a vacancy after all etc. etc. so do not
make any quick decisions based on what the manager at the interview might have told you.

Hope your name isn’t really ‘Jonathan Alsatian’, because managers do lurk around this board.

When I got the job it was about a month before I was given an official start date. They do like to take their time.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

I was interviewed on the 17th of September, told I had the job on the 18th and started on the 7th of October. It's bound to be different around the country though.

The manager won't need to interview you once you've told them you worked for us in the past, as he'll just contact your last RM manager and ask them for their own views on you? There's no way I'd hand my notice in until I had a formal job offer in writing.
