New starter uniform.

Post by itsthepostie »

Hi all

Became Royal Mail staff a few days ago after a few months working through an agency. I am a post person with driving with a 30hr permanent contract.

Ideally I am looking to get some shoes and a coat of some type. I logged on to detail dimensions and it shows I have an allocation of 1 item. It gives me a choice of 2 items to pick from, either a class 2 or class 3 high vis vest and that is it.

I emailed dimensions, and they told me that my profile shows I am full time and they are unable to change my allocation as it is determined by head office and that I need to get approval from them. They suggest talking to my manager which I will do tomorrow.

I was just wondering how long until I am allowed shoes and a coat/jacket?

Thanks in advance.

From day one.
Speak to your manager, it will then take Royal Mails equivalent of one day(Two weeks!)to sort.

Can get them as soon as first or second day. Can do it from the app, but best to do it through your manager. Might luck out and they have some spares in the office (I got a jacket and some other bits this way)

Have a look around the office for dumped gear. There's usually a york in each office full of discarded uniform items of former employees. Reminds me of that scene in the 2005 War of the Worlds when people are getting vapourised and their empty clothes flutter down.
The machine stops.
