As title - job still advertised?

Interview was just over a week ago, email arrived last night stating-
We are pleased to confirm you passed the assessment, unfortunately, on this occasion we are unable to offer you the position as there were other higher scoring candidates. However, as you passed, we will add you to our waiting list from the date of this email for 3 months and if we have any vacancies for the same role either in the location you applied for or nearby, we will be in contact to discuss the next steps. As a waiting list candidate you do not need to complete the assessment again.

Only the usual bureaucracy associated with Royal Mail. Which you will experience when you do eventually start working with them. Things tend to move at a rather glacial pace on the Admin and Support side.
