no delivery supplement, refuse D2Ds?

not for myself, but a fellow new starter is in the predicament unsure whether he gets the delivery supplement. He has enquired over the weeks and managers play dumb and sidestep him on the issue, saying its in with the new rate. He initially refused to do the door to doors, saying if not getting paid for them he has no need to do them. In recent weeks he started doing them, beng led on by what he was told. Does he have a case for not doing them, or could this be wilful delay?

The Delivery Supplement is NOT for door to doors and hasn't been since a few years before I joined RM in 2012.

Since November 2022 new starters get NO supplements at all , it wasn't in the contract at all. Carry on refusing to do them and he may well be heading out of the door. His only case for not doing them is because he hasn't read his contract, presumably he also knows that he doesn't get paid breaks (he gets any legally entitled breaks but is not paid for them).

He is getting paid for his time isn't he? Of course he is getting paid for the D2Ds. And from what you say, the manager hasn't side stepped anything. The equivalent of a supplement is baked into his hourly rate and the manager has said so.

The delivery supplement is paid on the older contracts for working in delivery ( well that’s what I’ve been told) nothing to do with d2d’s. As stated, those on new terms don’t receive this or paid breaks, which is a disgrace, but there we go.

The overtime rate after 40 hours is, they are on much lower pay before that kicks in.

Correct, the new rate is £12.29, then overtime over 40 hours at 1.25x so 12.29 x 1.25 = £15.36

I've just worked out my rate taking into account we get delivery supplement and paid breaks works out at around £15.50.

I've just worked out my rate taking into account we get delivery supplement and paid breaks works out at around £15.50.

Dont know where you get £15.50 it actually works out to £13.38 the paid breaks are already counted in the 37 hour week

You should be ,the pay works out roughly the same only you work an extra 3 hours but do get paid a better overtime rate

New contracts are worse than the old ones. The union let the new guys get screwed.
They get £12.29 for the 1st 40hours. Old contracts get £13.38 for the 1st 37hours + £28 delivery sup.
After 40hours new guys get £15 per hour. Old contracts rates drop & drop again.

When new & old contracts do about 70hours they earn the same amount. Up to that point the old contracts earn more
