Re: Post-Interview question
I'm approaching 3 weeks on Wednesday and my online status is still interview booked, I am worried as it seems others have had a change before now.

Re: Post-Interview question
A little update on me... Its been 3 weeks now and still not heard anything. Today i got a job offer from another interview i had last week (i'm an accountant that got made redundant last year) for another position in accounts which i have accepted.
It's a shame for me as i was hoping to turn my redundancy into an opportunity to change career paths into a postman. But i've been out of work 2 months now and i can't afford to be turning down a permanent job and put all my eggs in one basket for a position as postman that i still may not get. (Knowing my luck i will get offered the postman job tomorrow!).
In the future i would love to be a postman, but at this opportunity Royal Mail's slow application process has cost them a potential candidate. Good luck to all others that have applied.

Re: Post-Interview question
Oh balls! Very sorry to hear about the interview outcome. Any hope I had remaining as just drained away now. I'm 3 weeks today and still have Interview Booked on my application. Would be gutted.Adrian09 wrote:At least you heard about a job. If I have read and understood your post correctly, it may not be the one you had hoped to get, but at least you had some good news, which is more than can be said for me. I know without any doubt that I would've loved being a postie, but to be kept waiting two weeks, getting filled full of hope, hope that later proved to be false, only for them to turn around and not even give me a chance, was really upsetting and made me lose faith in the RM. To say it is a disappointment too many for me is an understatement. Nonetheless, it is one I will definitely not be putting myself through again. I didn't even get short-listed; it was just a flat out no. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would've liked to have been their last choice, rather than being no choice at all.
Please be aware that I am not saying I would've made a better postie than whoever they hired. What I am saying is that they've missed out on a loyal, dedicated, hard-working and passionate candidate who would've done everything and anything required of him for the duration of the contract. I wish the successful candidate luck in his/her new role.
Good luck to the rest of you hopefuls. May your faith in the RM application process prove worthwhile; and not turn out to be a complete waste of time like it was for me.
Good luck with your future buddy.

Re: Post-Interview question
Just got a phone call from Royal Mail head office in Sheffield. They said well done i passed the interview, and wanted to confirm what university i went to... That's when i told them i had just accepted another offer and would have to withdraw from the process. Not sure if they were going to offer me the job or not. So it was 3 weeks to the day since my interview that i heard anything.
Does anyone know if the fact i pulled out the process would hinder my chances if i decided to apply again in a couple of years?

Re: Post-Interview question
Hi Adrian09 if it's any consolation phoning up would not have made a difference. The decisions are made by a central recruitment team based on what the observations of the interviewing manager were along with the pre interview test results. Shame they don't give more feedback.Adrian09 wrote:I hope it works out for you, daambi. It is fast approaching two weeks for me so it'll be interesting to see if my status changes and what it changes to... Hopefully we'll both get good news.
24/02/2015 - 13:10 - Update - I got my email from Royal Mail today; I was unsuccessful and have to wait 6 months before I can re-apply.
Why they kept me waiting nearly two weeks after my interview just to say no is beyond me... and although I really wanted the job, it might actually put me off re-applying in the future.
Something tells me if I had of phoned to ask for an update I might've had a different outcome. I'll never know now.
Good luck to the rest of you hopefuls. May you receive better news than I.
