AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CWU AND QUADRANT CATERING LTD REGARDING THE 2013 PAY REVIEW

INTRODUCTION

This agreement has been negotiated in line with the principles of mutual interest for employees and the business alike. It is acknowledged that both parties are committed to working together to secure the future of Quadrant and protect employee’s jobs.

It is considered that this agreement recognises the commitment and contribution made by employees throughout the past difficult year and creates the foundation for securing a new long term future with its customers which removes uncertainty and allows for focus on growth.

SCOPE

The agreement covers all CWU represented grades for the 2013 pay award.

PAY AND REWARD

An increase of:

2.6% on all elements of pay (including allowances and overtime etc) backdated to the 1st October 2013.

In order to ensure the affordability of the above the new ‘Team Bank’ productivity scheme will be capped at a level that will reward each employee to no more than the equivalent of 1.2% of annual salary.

UNIT REVISIONS

Both parties understand that the best way to secure the future of the business and provide employment and standard of living security to employees is to increase the usage of Quadrant facilities. Against that backdrop it is agreed that we will work together to develop a response to that challenge based on excellent quality of service, a flexible and responsive product offering range and a new focus and review of restaurant ambience.

Whilst understanding the need to ensure that national sales and labour costs have to be realistically aligned, it is also accepted that in a nationwide service some sites will generate more revenue than others and the important factor is one of usage.

A stable platform is considered a key factor for confidence and growth, and both parties agree that moving away from perpetual unit revisions would provide that platform. Therefore we will work together to develop a model which will facilitate a relationship with Royal Mail that enables the ‘Use It or Lose It’ agreement with Royal Mail to be adapted to a Quadrant determined approach.

If the above arrangement is developed then both parties will work together to design a new revision approach that responds to Quadrant’s ongoing success and provides job security for its employees.

E-PAYSLIPS

Compass as the parent company have advised Quadrant that from February 2014 they will be moving to E-payslips. In response we have agreed that Quadrant and the CWU will work together to ensure appropriate training, education and the ability to still receive a printed version of the payslip are in place in order to resolve any concerns employees may have.
