Hi
Where do I find the internal job site?

What's the best way to transfer to another location as a post person?

Rule of thumb, contact the office you want to go to personally as well as using the job site.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Does anyone know how long a transfer can take? Would it be quicker to just hand in your notice (2 weeks) then just apply elsewhere? I could imagine an internal transfer could take a long time because it's down to your manager's discretion, they could hold you for so long that the new opportunity could go to someone else who could start earlier no? I am thinking about going into a new delivery office myself, I am going to apply for new jobs and then after the interview, once I get the 'your application has been successfull' email, I will hand in my notice.

If you hand your notice in you lose any seniority and your pay likely returns to trialist (0 and 6 month rates) should you rejoin.

It is nothing to do with your manager. Once the transfer request is put through from the NEW office the current one can hold for something like 6 weeks max if they "need" to. Generally a date is agreed between the two

If you get offered it it doesn't matter if someone else can start sooner, you got the offer not them.

All in all, quitting only to apply elsewhere is a method with big pitfalls and minor merits like if you want to take a few months unpaid leave.

Take a trip and chat to the potential new DOM and unit rep.
