Royal Mail contract.

Post by Metalman »

I am currently with Angard, but I may soon be offered a Royal Mail contract of 15 hours a week. Bearing in mind that this would involve a fairly big pay rate reduction, does anybody think it is worth my while signing it ? Also, if I decide not to sign it, will I still remain with Angard ? Thanks in advance for any replies.

From what I've heard R.M's plan is to phase out most of Angard , that's why there has been offers of part-time contracts at virtually every M.C.
Add to this the continued automation of mail processing ,will there any need for Angard in the future ?

Yeah at my mail centre there is constant speculation about the future of packet sorting e.g it is currently done manually but fear Warrington auto packet handling will absorb packets from different mail centres

There’s a PSM being commissioned in Gatwick MC.

It seems a. It seems a bit hit-and-miss. Last werk’s Test run with live mail had a 17% reject rate - that’s worse than 1 in 5.

It wasnworkunf better on 5 November but it’s csysing chaos around the rest of the parcels operation.

I think your maths are wrong. 17% is BETTER than 1 in 5 which is 20%. :thumbup

Well I, and a few other mail sorters, signed in yesterday with the Royal Mail for the first time after a year with Angard, but I have not yet received a contract and I do not yet have a Royal Mail pay number. So what is going on?

A number of Angard employees at our MC were recruited by RM a couple of years ago. For several months they were still paid by Angard - the only difference being they were on set shifts. It took a while before they were transferred to RM properly.
