Christmas SHifts for Angard AWR Staff Still Unknown

Post by NW11851 »

Despite an email a few weeks ago to all Angard Staff that we would be advised of what would be available for the Christmas perion 'within eight week', ie before 28 November, when I spole to the Angard comsultant last night, I was advised that they had 'no news yet'

Themail stated that Angard staff would be given shifts and implied that this would be before the Christmas Casuals were employed.

I feel that the Angard AWR staff will be the losers in the process. It seems obvious that they intend to hire as many casuals as possible and give us the dregs of what is left.

The work is fine but this is truly a terrible employer.

The actual e-mail was dated 26-Sep-17:
"As a current Angard registered employee you DO NOT need to apply for the Christmas Casual Royal Mail positions that will be advertised from 31st August 2017. All Angard Royal Mail staff will be considered for shifts prior to the allocation of roles to external Christmas Casual workers.

We will be in contact with all Angard workers over the coming 8 weeks to confirm bookings for the pre Christmas run in and your availability. "

Don't trust them at all. LOL

I've been contacted about a block booking (Mon-Fri) starting next Monday up till Christmas so they are starting to allocate shifts at some mail centres.

Still nothing but I know a few who were blocked booked last week. Then my daughter pointed out an advert to me from an agency called first call advertising for mail sorters for next five weeks. Plus a picture of a royal mail worker on her page!!

Angard AWR staff will ALWAYS be sidelined in favour of much cheaper, fresh faced Christmas casuals (unless you’ve got strings to pull at a particular mail centre.

Worker productivity is a current and future issue. It’s obvious that a highly experienced, hardworking AWR Angardee can out perform most fresh faced casuals. It does not matter what Angard say or tell you. AWR workers will always be sidelined.
Utter hypocrisy

Being cancelled by the day at the moment and another batch of RM casuals due to start Monday so next week is probably cancelled. Can't be bothered with it and I've better things to do than get cancelled at the last minute so will cancel all my 'pre-booked' shifts and book a couple of weeks holiday then see how it goes after Christmas. I did actually get a few hours yesterday and spoke to the manager I normally work with who wasn't very happy that all the experienced staff they thought were booked had been cancelled.
