tAKING THE pI*S?

Hi, new member, not long started with Angard at new Atherstone centre. Worked here at Christmas direct with RM on a contract of 5 days, 7 hours 20 mins (after break) at £9.00 ph. All went well, ended a bit after when told would end but everyone assured that March was being reopend to take over from Hatfield that was being closed and they would be in touch to restart. So far so good. Anyhooooo, come March, still no conact. Look on t'interweb and jobs advertised by Angard. Contact them, interview (well not really, just look at docs), 2 week wait while get DBS done then call for next day introduction day followed by start following week. Again, all Hunky Dorey..... Next week, start on Monday as advised, work all fine. Tues all OK, Weds fine then on eve get message '....due to reduction in work volume, your shift for Thurs has been cancelled'. NICE. Fri, turn up as I was booked Monday to Saturday, and not on list..... OK surely, bit of mistake? No. Gestapo at security been told not to let anyone in who 'not on the list'. Fri afternoon, text from Angard 'Just to confirm your (sic) booked in to work at Atherstone PSC tomorrow from 06.00 to 14.00'. Sat shift fine. Anyway, back and forth, texts here and there saying one thing, then another. Easter weekend becomes nightmare. Good Friday, I'm due to work (as a Friday), then on Thurs get text saying 'All shifts cancelled Friday'.... Then another text saying 'All shifts Friday (6-2 and 2-10 cancelled. We do have a 6 to 6 shift available, call XXXXXXX to confirm' 30 mins trying, get through and told all shifts gone..... Good Friday and get payslip online, pay is minimum wage £7.50... nobody mentioned this at the 'interview' plus we stopped 45 mins for break despite us only getting 40 mins?!?!? Surely that means we gat paid £7.41 per hour when the 'Minimum' wage is £7.50 now?!?!?!?!? ... Anyway, seems like everyone getting shifts cancelled at short notice, even turned up one day and was told 'not on list' so turned away. NICE.,... 5.45 AM and having got up an hour earlier, travelled to get there - 'Sorry you can't come in!!!!!!!' Call to Angard and no sympathy, just a 'oH, NOT SURE WHY YOU NOT ON LIST....'

This is just the beginning. People being cancelled due to lack of work, then being text an hour later asking if they wanted overtime (on the shift they were just cancelled from!!!)

WHAT IS GOING ON? is this just Atherstone or is it global?

Not even going to mention 'Big Chris' who has been on phone for about 4 days solid about his tax code being wrong. Driving us mad, he not the only one, but all he talks about (and that his wife has worked out what tax he should have paid because she is really clever and he is owed loads....... zzzzzz)

Are Angard really this bad? Are we being taken for Mugs? (obviously know this answer.....) Apparently, RM has taken long lease on this site (ex BHS who were mugged off), are Angard /RM really offering jobs? Loads of ground work going on, but nobody knows what truth is. Manager laid back and OK, but not telling people what happening. Junior managers are a joke..... not speak English, and no idea what to do.

Just looked down and seen still got my hi-viz on! Bit ranting but I'm not on my first Rodeo and just want to know if I'm on Candid Camera or just working where everyone is finding their feet. Minimum wage, I could go and hold a sign for 'Golf Sale' at the intersection, but for the chance of a permanent contract with RM is it worth it?
