stopped of at my sorting office last night to try and find out whats going on . and was told that managers have been told NOT TO USE AGENCY STAFF EXCEPT IN AN EXTREME EMERGENCY . also when the next round of voluntary redundancies come up rm is trying to cut back on the evening shift , and as a result any staff that are left that do not want to lose hours can transfer to nightshift . this means as several of us have guessed they are trying to get rid of all AWR STAFF . so if you have got any holidays left drag them out over the next couple of months , otherwise if you lose your security status you will need to be re vetted and possibly even have to re register and also take a cut in pay back to minimum wage again . now if it takes 12 weeks to get back to awr at the rate things are going it is going to take at least 6 months thats if they dont find any more ways to keep us off the higher rate . nobody likes zero hour contracts but unfortunately we have accepted them without a fight this stinks its time something was done about it . if your in the union you can ask whats going on but you will not get a straight answer as the union are only worried about permanent staff . its getting to the point where i dont care if they go bust , for the amount of work we get of them its not worth the hasstle

The phone number for my MC has been off since the start of this month
Had one 4 hour shift at the start of February and nothing since (about 10 hours total in January and around 20 hours in December (excluding holiday hours i had to book
)
Just under a weeks work in 3 months .... sounds promising
I feel like im going in circles with them to be honest
Wake up , ring the number, its off, ring the main number , they tell me its very quiet and we will text you, Repeat every few days..
Think Ive got 2 weeks left before my AWR goes (im sure the second it does the work will pick up , funny how that works.....

Just to add my twopenneth, I am angard at YDC. Last shift I got was other Saturday, 11th feb. There have been shifts last weekend, I couldn't get one. There was a shift on yesterday, a mate who is there txtd me to tip me off, so I phone in, by time I get through there is nowt left.
Without doubt they have their fave people to ring, its not even remotely fair, its purely for their (angards) convienience.

Mail Centres are rife with NEPOTISM. Continual backstabbing, backbiting and unfair practices particularly at the DEVON Centres.pleb wrote:Just to add my twopenneth, I am angard at YDC. What with the prejudice and perversity from the regulars i.e. ill-breds and in-breds. Apparently some Angardees work too fast, efficiently and intelligently!!!!!
Some RM contracted staff do not like this. :crazy:

You should also be aware that regular RM staff can sign up FOR AS MUCH OVERTIME AS THEY WANT!!!!!! You watch them sign in somewhat untidily on the "REQUEST OVERTIME" sheet. AWR Angardees are at the bottom of the pile. Too "costly"?!cosi1259 wrote:stopped of at my sorting office last night to try and find out whats going on . and was told that managers have been told NOT TO USE AGENCY STAFF EXCEPT IN AN EXTREME EMERGENCY . also when the next round of voluntary redundancies come up rm is trying to cut back on the evening shift , and as a result any staff that are left that do not want to lose hours can transfer to nightshift . this means as several of us have guessed they are trying to get rid of all AWR STAFF . so if you have got any holidays left drag them out over the next couple of months , otherwise if you lose your security status you will need to be re vetted and possibly even have to re register and also take a cut in pay back to minimum wage again . now if it takes 12 weeks to get back to awr at the rate things are going it is going to take at least 6 months thats if they dont find any more ways to keep us off the higher rate . nobody likes zero hour contracts but unfortunately we have accepted them without a fight this stinks its time something was done about it . if your in the union you can ask whats going on but you will not get a straight answer as the union are only worried about permanent staff . its getting to the point where i dont care if they go bust , for the amount of work we get of them its not worth the hasstle
TOTALLY UNFAIR PRACTICE. As for security/security checks within mail centres I've had loads of personal stuff nicked from the locker room. Totally unacceptable. Loads of criminals and psychopaths employed where I have worked.
