Hi everyone
I have worked as a directly employed Christmas Casual for Royal Mail for the Xmas 2012 and 2013 sessions but the arrangement was always for full shifts and that for a fixed period, so you knew what to expect.
I have found myself between jobs again and have looked at repeating this for Xmas 2015 but on searching the RM jobsite there is absolutely nothing going for the Cardiff area unless it is working for Angard.
So having applied for this work I met with an Angard bod to sort out required paperwork to register with them as a Flexible Casual Worker for sorting work at the Cardiff Mail centre. I was told that it will take about 2 weeks to process everything before any actual offer of work. It will be on an as-needed basis - zero hours contract (yuk!)
The rate for the job is pretty poor - the same as that for the current Xmas RM casuals but there are no paid breaks whatsoever.
I am aiming for the night shift as this pays a little more and is enhanced again at the weekends.
I was told that after 10 or 12 weeks' work the pay rate improves to a more acceptable £10/hr for days and £12/hour for nights and again enhanced on the weekends.
I would appreciate it if anyone who has already worked the 10/12 weeks as a Flexible Casual Worker for Angard and who are on the improved rate would tell me if this is correct or otherwise let me know the actual improved rates that I can expect (should I work there long enough) My thanks in advance.

Moved to Angard forum.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
