Apparently not. We all got our little post card last month inviting us back to work for them this Xmas. But who wants to be paid £6 an hour again ?(Although it might be better than nothing I suppose, which is all we might get if Reed insist on stuffing their books with casuals) The contract you signed says that you will not accept and more shifts from the Royal Mail, so I presume that going back to getting a RM payslip is not allowed either. I asked a manger last night who would be getting first call on shifts at Xmas, he gave me a load of waffle and apologies. as i expected. People i spoke to said either they got as many hours as they wanted or that they had trouble getting shifts.So I am a tad confused there. This week I will be asking as many people I can find who were with Angard last Xmas and see what they say.

WRONG! Read the following carefully:

Tried, trained and tested angardees will NOT GET THE WORK! Once you are on a higher rate, surprise, surprise the number of shifts offered to you DROPS DRASTICALLY!!!!!!!! RM and Angard wll always "blame" each other but lack honesty. You are seen as too expensive that is why cheap Christmas casuals are always sought at circa £6.50/hour! Totally hypocritical of them. AT many mail centres nepotism Rules! Cynical cost saving and exploitatiom.

£6/hour is actually better than £zero/hour if you will get zero hours over Christmas...Christmas casuals usually start their contracts in November but angardees only start getting shifts circa late December! Get two contracts and choose which employer you want. Can the bastards stop you? Check the online form.

Last year I was clocking up 50 hours a week while on the higher rate...although I was one of only 3 Angard casuals that were told to stay at the mail centre and come in when you want (Hard work does pay off sometimes!!)
All the rest were moved to the outhouse and were still on full time hours...that might change this year though now that they're desperate to cut costs

Cynical staff costs cutting will always result in cheap, fresh faced casuals being employed over the Christmas period rather than the tried, tested, trained and talented Angardees! Double talk, lies and contradictory comments from the managers/supervisors we will always get.
Also nepotism and favouritism is the endemic disease at this mail centre in Devon.
