I start for the Christmas Casuals on 26th Nov and have not yet received anything in the post. The member of staff who rang me confirming my start date said i would receive written confirmation either by email or text and that i would receive my ID Badge in the post. Do you need the ID badge on your first day if it doesn't arrive on time, or would i get it on my first day?
Also, whats the dress code, i don't have a clue what to wear

Dress code is smart casual - no hats, hoodies, trainers or anything like that. Though the last time I worked here there were some right scruffy people! 
As for the ID badge, it seems to differ depending on which MDEC you are at. If it doesn't arrive to you in time I would take some ID with you on your first day, perhaps a passport if you have one.

Where I am its just a delivery office, but everyone was basically wearing jeans, trainers and I spotted a number of hoodies including myself (not that you need them due to how hot it is). Even the full time staff were wearing jeans and trainers. You don't need to attend wearing safety boots, staff clothing etc. Turn up presentable, I don't mean a suit by any means, but decent clothing, that you don't care much about. If you have a strict line manager, they should provide you with an hi viz, safety boots etc, gloves etc if and when needed. I started last night, and I wore jeans, t-shirt, cardigan, coat over the top (as it tends to be cold in them buildings), and some trainers. On site I was given an hi viz that I must bring everyday to get on site. The ID badge should be given to you once you sign in.
