Who's all starting on Mon 19th Nov

Post by thelaird37 »

Been told by a local postie of many years that they have been told that there is 37% more mail/parcels deliveries this year due to new retailer contracts outwith the usual Amazon,Ebay stuff. so hopefully there's more overtime for the casuals for the 5 weeks up until christmas. Done previous royal mail work so anyone starting for the 1st time once you get your first 3 hours done the rest of the shift goes in kinda quick (helps if you have your ipod also) : :cuppa

It will not strictly be overtime - just more hours.

Well it's still overtime - if your working day is 8 hours and they ask you to stay on. - They ask you to work on sundays but most folk dont fancy the option of working 7 days a week. There is usually music blaring out, but the last few years folk took their ipod's it does make the day go in faster trust me :Very Happy

Overtime it is not, overtime is normally paid at a premium, this is simply extra hours.

Ok i you want to split hair's - Yes it's extra hours, but their not forcing anyone to do them...They told us last year that it wasnt a premium overtime rate so it was'nt underhand.

Every shift supervisor is different, but as long as your doing your work they didnt mind + it saves you talking to any chav/ned who you have nothing in common with. they soon get the picture :cool

All I have said it is not overtime it is extra hours - there is a difference.

Nobody has said it is underhand and I know you are given the chance to do it or not. I get the chance nearly everyday I have been in work for the last few years (sometimes it is overtime for me - if I work more than a certain number of hours a week).
