Re: christmas work
Do you think it's worthwhile to try and contact RM to ask to start earlier - at least to let them know you're free to start ASAP?
I have only been confirmed for the two weeks prior to Xmas, and have now passed all security checks (current status: Processing offer), yet I often see offers on agency websites - just during this week - for mail sorting work with an unnamed company that 99% is RM and which offer earlier start dates and sometimes later finishes to the contract (work into January).

Re: christmas work
Sorry bud, But getting in contact with them is virtually impossible, The number they give you is an automated number ie press 1 for job application, press 2 etc etc...If you do call the number about your application there is a message to tell you that you can ONLY start on the agreed date they gave you. Some folk on here and folk i know were lucky enough to start 2 weeks ago thats if royal mail call them.sinfony wrote:Do you think it's worthwhile to try and contact RM to ask to start earlier - at least to let them know you're free to start ASAP?

Re: christmas work
Just make sure you've always got your phone with you because if you miss the call you'll have no way of contacting them.mrdai84 wrote:hi i was wondering if anyone could please help me i attended a registration event and was put on a waiting list, it was for Glasgow euro central has anyone else been put on the waiting list and what are the chances of actually getting a job??

Re: christmas work
I think the waiting lists are for people lets say who start this monday and the Royal Mail will have a list of say 10 people 1or 2 might not turn up and not called in sick or since their interview they have got another job..they just phone the next person on the list...just your luck if your names near the top.Guy last year got started that way as he'd given up hope of getting started...It's not ideal cos you dont know wether to start looking elsewhere for another job or hoping royal mail call you.mrdai84 wrote:i got a phonecall from the royal mail last week but was not in my partner took the call but due to data protection they were unable to tell her anythingi phoned them and they couldnt tell me anything, has anyone else been put on a waiting list and had a start??

Re: christmas work
Will let you know tomorrow if no one else has posted since then. Training is meant to be in the first hour though, so I assume around one hour long.ball wrote:dose any one know what happens on first night and our long is training

Re: christmas work
mrdai84 my fiance is in the same position as you and is wondering what is happening. He also has applied for Eurocentral and was told he was on a waiting list when he went to the registration event in Wishaw 3 weeks ago now his online status is saying "Processing offer" and it says he has a job offer pending pre-employment checks. I have put a post on here asking if this looks like he is getting offered a job but nobody has replied yet.mrdai84 wrote:heyy could anyone help me plz i just got an email from royal mail with job offer pending pre employment checks was just wondering how long this takes and what it involves?? cant wait to get a start finally some good luck has come my way![]()

Re: christmas work
hi andrea just read your post, i have phoned the royal mail and by the sound of things this does mean we will be getting a start if all the checks are ok
and it sure is a long process, has your partner had a phonecall yet about the sceurity checks?
