Romford Christmas Casual again this year. Need a bit of help

Post by Talie »

Hiya!

I worked last year as a Christmas Casual at the Romford Mail Centre.I started at the end of November and finished the beginning of January. After I finished I applied for a regular casual position, and I have been back a few random times throughout the rest of the year.

I contacted Angard about Christmas work this year, and I was told I needed to re-apply again for this years Christmas work - so I did  That was on the 16th of October.
Ever since then it's said "application received" and i've had 0 emails directly to my inbox. I have 2 sitting in "your email" option directly on the application page. I have literally been checking my status and emails every day with nothing. Last year I had a ton of trouble with Angard in regards to my application, arranging an interview and getting paid. However, by now I had at least passed all my CRB checks and had arranged an interview. What the hell is going on?

After the amount of trouble I had last year, this whole slow process is making me think i'm going to lose out on this years work. God help them if I do, especially as i'm still an Angard employee!

I rang Angard,to be told that they're not dealing with this years Christmas people, which was news to me. They gave me a number to ring, which in a nut shell said press 1 to get help with your application (which goes on to tell you to go on the Royal mail website) or press 2 to to find out about the progress of your application (which then says they won't help individuals) :arrrghhh I don't even understand what the point of that number is if they won't help?! I found a email address on the forum, which the automated response basically says the same thing as the number, and i'm waiting for a reply which I doubt i'll get.

Does anyone know what's going on with interviewing at Romford? or just in general know what's going on?

CRB checks are not done until after the interview stage. They cannot do them until they have your information.

Royal Mail are recruiting Christmas casuals direct this year - Angard are not responsible for Christmas casuals.

Hi again guys!

Just an update on what I've heard about working at the Romford branch.
I rang up Angard today, and I was told current Angard employees would have priority over all the Christmas staff Royal Mail are currently hiring.
I was employed by Angard last year and throughout this year on a casual basis, however to go back to work Christmas this year any current Angard employees that haven't done a shift within the last 90 days (which includes myself, although this was because I haven't been offered any shifts) would have to go back and do the vetting process again.
As for my application I put with Royal Mail before I found out that information about current Angard employees, my application is STILL stuck as application received. I do not know if Romford have started/finished their interviews, but judging by how long it's been stuck as application received It looks as if that route is not going to lead to any work this Christmas, at least not for me! So i'm going to hassle Angard direct until I get into Romford branch this year!

If anyone here reads this, and is currently an Angard employee that hasn't worked within the last 90 days, it may well be worth ringing them up and asking if you need to be vetted again to work this Christmas, otherwise it looks like they won't send you :silenced I'm awaiting a phone call back from someone who is going to ask some 'questions'.. will update this if I hear anything!
