Hi,
At the interview I had, it was said that the contract would end on the 24th December. I'm currently at university, and was planning on visiting family over Xmas(who live in Essex). My parents are picking me up, but have already booked accommodation in order to pick me up on the 23rd. Do you think I'd be able to miss the 24th and maybe pull a double shift or something the week before to make up the time or if not will there be a problem with me being absent on the 24th? I'm going to be doing MDEC in Stoke-On-Trent, if that makes a difference.

If I were you I would just go and tell RM you can't make you're final shift, what's the worst that can happen? They sack you

Last year, working as casuals, our shift had our last day cancelled anyway. Though your contract ends on the 24th there's a fair chance there will be no work for casuals on that day

You WONT be working on the 24th as its a monday...You cant exactly sort mail that day cos who's going to be working the next day. Everybody will finish on the Friday the 21st as last year the excess mail goes back to the mail centre's.
