CRB Checks - Casual Work with RM

Post by milo2564 »

Is everyone CRB checked whether Casual or FT ....... eg. Xmas Casuals? and would they be to the same levels as say for an SIA Door Supervisor......in other words, is a CRB check standard in every job as to the same level

Everyone is supposed to be CRB checked. Not sure as to what level that check is.

Depends on the job but there are 2 types of CRB checks: http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/ac ... ink.gov.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What checks are available?

A Standard Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check contains details of all spent and unspent convictions; cautions, reprimands and final warnings from the Police National Computer (PNC).

An Enhanced CRB check is the highest level of criminal record check. It will contain the same PNC information as the Standard check but also includes a check of police records held locally, and for positions working with children and vulnerable adults, information held by the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

The Standard check is available for certain specified occupations, licences and entry into certain specified professions.

The Enhanced check is available for those working in Regulated Activity with children or vulnerable adults; applicants for gaming and lottery licences; and judicial appointments.

Thank you for this information..... I passed the RM CRB check and have recently completed a course and passed for a SIA Door Supervisor badge and am still to send off for my badge and CRB check from the governing body of the SIA. however I went for a job interview with G4S for the Olympics for Security and am taking also my CCTV course. However when I said I had, had a 3 year gap.....made redundant, lived off that and then my OH and then eventually signed on.....giving a total of 1yr unaccounted for they said I would not pass a CRB check! But I have with the RM... I have taken this further as is discrimination (the jobcentre are backing me) for example against housewives who are at home with their OH and not claiming or working....how are they to prove a 5yr history....another point is Foreign Nationals coming over to complete the same course as I have done and getting their SIA badges as they can only be CRB checked within the UK and not whilst they lived overseas....I know this is the RM site and issues, but I felt a need to see as to what extent the RM will run their CRB as part of my case to G4S... I have no convictions, no parking tickets/offences...nothing.......
Thank you again for your help on this...

I know the "interview" was mostly about the paper work for the CRB checks, but I never saw the CRB check itself, which is a first for me, as ive had a few in the past.

It sounds like the company have their own policy and are hiding behind CRB checks.

Sometimes employers ask for character witnesses for any missing periods on an application form eg a Doctor, MP or JP but you dont fail a CRB check for going on a long holiday or becoming a house wife/husband :d'oh!
