Going back into the breach

Post by Jeansybaby »

Angard rang me today and said they would be getting more shifts from royal mail and would I be Intrested in a Job

And I said yes (feel free to call the lunatic asylum  )

But the extra income would be nice help me towards stuff so yeah, feel free to call me crazy I don't mind. :Very Happy

There should be fewer issues.
There are far fewer staff to manage and they should have learned from previous mistakes.
Good luck. :nervous

Hope everything turns out great for you. I think I must have been one of the small majority that have never really had any trouble with angard at all apart from having to give them my bank details 3 times when I first started with them.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you in the hopes that you have as little trouble with them as I have.

Angard - Damned with faint praise, or as they say round here "A back handed compliment".

To be honest I would be nervous that I had to give my employer my Bank Details 3 times, but as you say measured against other problems it is quite a minor issue for Angard.

However, as Fishtank says it should be a lot smoother now that they have had time to address the core issues. Good luck and welcome back Jeansybaby

Well I was a little peeved at 1st truth be told as I did have to wait an extra week before I started getting paid but apart from that its been ok. Even when my pay was a little messed up due to me working overtime and only getting my normal shifts money it all seemed to get sorted pretty quick and was added to my next wage.
Compared to some of the horror stories ive read here and other angard staff I have been working with I would say I have been extremely lucky.

Although at present I am still waiting to hear off them with regards to this 12 week letter they sent out seeing as I am now at week 16 with no apparent changes which is a little concerning.

Keep asking Angard for your new T&Cs - I am - apparently they are struggling to get them from Royal Mail as every place of work appears to have slightly different T&Cs. I have been informed, by asking Northampton call centre (the people that call you in) what my pay rates are.

Just been told by Angard that my Mail Centre's pay has not been included in tomorrow's payroll - not given the reason why but it will be in next weeks. Person said the week I did X hours and I said no I did X + break times as I now should get paid breaks in line with AWR. He has gone off to investigate this.

How long has it been since your last shift?
If it's more than 6 weeks it will reset your 12 week clock.

Yeah what Fishtank said basically .... if you have worked say 9 weeks ( pay cheques ) and your break from Angard was less than 6 weeks then you would only need to work another 3 weeks to qualify for the better conditions. If your break was 6 weeks or more then your 9 week stretch is reset and you have to start at week 1 again.

I am not 100% sure of what the better conditions are once over the 12 weeks as I have not spoken to Angard personally yet ( I do intend to early next week ) , but a friend of mine who is also an Angard casual rang and she got told her breaks would now be paid breaks , her hourly rate would increase supposedly to match the basic hourly rm rate and should include shift allowance.

The Angard member on the phone could not give any more details and said they would get a manager to contact my friend within a few days but surprise surprise she has not heard back yet.

As I said , this info came from a friend and although I dont doubt the information , dont bank on it being 100% correct either seeing as it was Angard passing on the info lol.

I went back for two shifts two weeks ago, did a further two last week and have been asked in for two next week. However, expected to be paid today for my first two shifts and surprise, surprise, nothing. They obviously haven't got any better and I obviously haven't learnt my lesson from the December shambles. Keep thinking, at least it is some work though.

A lot of Angard staff threatening to walk out of my local MC today. Yet again the majority have'nt been paid or if they have its the wrong amount.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Appeared that all staff at my Mail Centre received a call on Thursday telling us there was a problem with the payroll run for our Mail Centre and we were not going to be getting paid yesterday but it would be paid next Friday. Why they cannot have an additonal pay run to pay us Monday/Tuesday was never explained. Looks like it is more than a problem than just the Mail Centre I work at - there was no talk of a walk out. A few different people from AnGREED made these calls - suggesting the problem was a bit more widespread than just our mail centre.

Well I do have a little bit of good news amongst all these Angard pay problems.

Although I have not heard off them directly yet , I just had my payslip today for last weeks shifts and its at 9.40 an hour instead of my usual 6.58 , so it appears they have taken the 12 week thing into account even though its a few weeks later than it should have been.

Still unpaid breaks though and it looks like no night shift allowance either so I will ring them early next week just to see if its right or of I am owed more.

I suspect your breaks are being removed by the RM managers at your MC/DO - ours are and were at Christmas. I also suspect that they are unaware of the impact of AWR and are still treating breaks in the same way as they did prior to qualifying for AWR rights after 12 weeks. They dont seem too aware of AWR at the MC I work at. Try asking one of your managers about AWR and see what response it gets.
