Anyone else told that RM will be paying us direct instead?
A manager on my shift today told us that Royal Mail HR had said if people still were not paid by midnight tonight then they would begin paying casuals direct and angard would have to pay the dosh back to them? (Before you point it out I am very much aware RM own angard but i still assume angard have their own seperate pot of gold somewhere [that I imagine they're currently doing the backstroke in and laughing merrily at us penniless fools who sold our souls to them] destined to pay the xmas casuals) .
Did anyone anywhere else get told this or get it in more detail? I was told this at York Mail centre for reference.

This has been circling around the sorting office I'm working in. It sounds absolutely ridiculous due to the nature of Angard being owned by the Royal Mail.
It doesn't filll me with too much confidence hearing it though, sounds more like managers starting a game of Chinese whispers to calm us before what could be a massive s**t storm on Friday if the lack of pay hits us as well (we started on the 5th).

Hi,
I get the impression that RMG managers at all levels will say anything to keep the lid on until the worst of the rush is over - probably until Tuesday 20th would do! Then they can simply leave the Angard staff to sort it out themselves as once our contracts are finished we become a collection of individuals each trying to get some money.
Happy Christmas?

Chinese whispers sounds about right. Our people due to be paid last Friday didnt and threatened to walk. Management came down and said they had been assured by Angard they would get paid by 5pm. They didnt but then didnt know that until the end of the shift. Management knew very few people, if any, could check while working. Some are still waiting. Personally I do not believe anything Angard or the Management say anymore.,

That's what I'm thinking, on Monday our line manager read out some email about the situation assuring us that the staff who should've been paid would be paid by midnight Monday, and HEY PRESTO next day nothing apart from staff complaining that they haven't been paid. As stated on another post I'm due my First pay packet this week but I don't hold much hope.m226877 wrote:Hi,

If there's one thing that RM does well, it's jungle drums/rumours...
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

the same has been promised here in south midlands mail centre in Northampton. today we had 3 meetings with different managers, the last one was with Sue, the HR officer ( i think so, not sure) and she promissed everyone to be paid by 5 pm today. good news is that some have already been paid, but tomorrow saturday we will comfirm if everyone has been paid.Karen Ireland wrote:I have been told i will get a giro that can be changed at a post office. The strange thing is that in all those meetings NO Angard manager or representative came to talk to us, all the times are the RM managers and strange people who came to talk to us and even the acting shift manager was surprised when we mentioned the Angard, as he said he knew nothing about Angard, what he new is that we have been employed by RM, so on that meeting was his first time to know about Angard. It looks like RM is driven by few people who do whatever they want.COMMUNICATION in RM, internally and externally is VERY poor the same as the work done by them.

Today in Portsmouth anyone still unpaid got a RM "voucher", cashable at Post Office, for approx 60% of what's owed. Dosh will be deducted from future Angard wage payment [if one ever turns up]. Think this was a unilateral decision from our frothing-at-the-mouth Mailcentre manager, so thanks Uncle Steve for that. Some of us did actually get Angard pay: about half & half.

Same thing happened to me this afternoon, though taking tax into account along with an emergency bank payment I have probably been paid more than I am due.Garshin wrote:Today in Portsmouth anyone still unpaid got a RM "voucher", cashable at Post Office, for approx 60% of what's owed. So if you have not been paid or underpaid you should hopefully get given a payment in your next shift

Yes, we were told this during Thursday's night shift. Payment was promised today, from RM themselves. I questioned the guy who was delivering us this message in writing and he said it was a sure thing.
Payment never came, so I haven't gone in for tonight's shift.

At york everybody who hadn't been paid got their vouchers during the shift with the exception of one boy who gave them till 5 and then rightfully said his goodbyes.

Re: Anyone else told that RM will be paying us direct instea
Hi all, in Wrexham us casuals most hadnt been paid when we finished shift yesterday evening. Our manager rang Angard to make sure they had our bank details this was sorted. Today will be the day to find out if all of us got paid. E mail your MP,also e-mail moyra greene, the postal head (moya.greene@royailmail.com) or gary.redmond@royalmail.com hes in the main office in London and does reply and tries to sort things out. Also the postal minister ed davey email him, you can find his e-mail addresses on the web. The more we complain hopefully things will get sorted out. This staffing agency is a total mess I wish the press and TV would high light this. Any way good luck all, and a merry christmas to you all.
