call to start 12 dec, isn't that a bit late?

Post by kaelby »

Got a text saying I'd been hired and to wait for further correspondence. No letters or emails regarding xmas casual work at Plymouth, so I thought they didn't need me (put on reserve list at the start). Angard then contacted me once on the 1st Dec on an unknown number but I missed the call. Tried to call them afterwards and sent an email about a week ago. Heard nothing after but on Friday someone from Angard rung up telling me my start date was 28th Nov (what??!!) but he could put me down to start on the 12 Dec (on the 2-10pm shift). Isn't that a bit late for a new casual to be starting?!

I'm just worried about how its all going to work when I turn up- I've missed the inductions (never worked at a sorting office before) and will probably only be working for a week or two (bloke seemed so rushed on the phone that I forgot to ask for the finishing date). Should I contact the mail centre before I start tomorrow or just turn up? (the angard bloke said just to turn up and talk to the line manager)

When I started work, I received calls from both Angard and the Mail centre. If I was you, I'd ring up the mail centre, just to double check that they're expecting you. It's only a phone call after all.
