What rights as a christmas casual got?
Reason I ask is because Friday all us casuals got taken in a room for like a meeting and the manager said if we are off for say one day and then dont turn in the next day that is it we are no longer in a job, now I know we dont get a union like the permi workers do but we must have some rights I mean surely you cant just loose your job for being of ill can you?

Pasted from the Angard Induction Booklet;
4.1.1.1 Lateness
Lateness is classed as an individual arriving more than 5 minutes after the start of shift.
When this occurs, Angard will be informed and it will remind you that lateness is not acceptable.
4.1.1.2 Planned Absence
Where you know in advance (24 hours or more) that you have a prior commitment that would prevent you from attending for a particular shift, you must inform Angard. A single planned absence within the agreed secondment is acceptable.
4.1.1.3 Failure to Attend
If you fail to attend for a shift, Angard will be informed and they will inform you that your secondment has been terminated unless a valid reason is provided in writing
Confirmation of Induction
Before starting work at a Royal Mail site you will need to have read through and understood this booklet.
Any questions you have should be directed to your Consultant.
You will then need to sign this declaration and hand it back to your consultant to place in your file:
I …………………………………………………………(full name) have read and understood this booklet and I am fully aware of my obligations regarding my own personal safety and my duty to safeguard the mail. In addition, I understand and agree to the terms of the provisional offer letter.
Signed …………………………… Date ………………………………………..
"Rights" - "Christmas casuals" - "Angard"
You're unlikely to see these words in the same sentence.

Re: Rights as a christmas casual?
Assuming Angard have kept their part of the contract and have sent you a copy of the Induction Booklet in the first place, oh and a copy of a contract would be nice as well.
If you know your going to be unavailable for a shift have a word with a Manager asap. If your already working well you will have been noticed so they will cut some slack, BUT if you are taking the p**s your card are marked and RM will be happy to get shot of you pronto!

How can anyone tell them if you cant get them on the phone?
