Angard not counting holiday as 'pause in service'

Post by TobysPaw »

To sum up very briefly:

I had a 7 week period where I didn't work for Angard due to having a very minor wrist procedure - nothing invasive just some regular physio.

Anyway, of those 7 weeks since my last shift, 4 of those weeks I had booked a half-day holiday, meaning that between my last shift and the one I have just done there were only three weeks where I calculated I had had a 'break in service'. (My first shift back was this last Saturday just gone).

Anyway I went into JoinedUp today to just make sure everything was correct and shift approved etc and I see I have been put down to non-AWR rates with an uppaid break.

My understanding was that my holiday should have 'stopped the clock' meaning that only the three weeks where I didn't receive any payment (no holiday pay and no shift) should have been counting against me.

Is my understand correct, and if so, should I bother contesting this or will it just be the proverbial head against brick wall scenario. It's not my main job so it's not going to hugely affect me financially but I do feel a bit cheated. Thanks

In 2022 payroll advised "holiday does not restart you week count but only pauses it for the week in which holiday was booked."

Ring payroll and they should sort it out. When I worked for Angard I had the same problem when I was off over 6 weeks and they ignored the holiday I booked. It also happened to a number of people I worked with during the quiet periods. Their systems just see over 6 weeks and seem to ignore any holiday booked.

Okay thanks guys I’ll drop them an email, crazy that their systems still don’t pick up such a simple thing after a couple of years at least.

You're probably better off ringing payroll. If you do email make sure it is addressed to payroll or you probably won't get a reply.

Thanks so much for the advice. I dropped them an email this morning (to payroll as suggested) as ideally I prefer to have a record of the correspondence but will call up if I don’t hear back by middle of next week.

I’ll update here once I hear back to say if I was sorted or not in case anyone else ever has the same issue.

Just to wrap this up, they actually got back to me within a reasonable timeframe, of just under 2 working days. They said:

“I have reviewed the below query, I can confirm that we have now made all relevant adjustments regarding the incorrect pay rates that have been applied to your working hours, you will also receive the correct rates of pay for hours worked moving forwards and you will be receiving an underpayment/Pay Adjustment on your payslips within the next two weeks.”

So if anyone else has a similar issue it’s not too hard to get it resolved but I still find it odd that it needed manual intervention for something so simple.
