Angard casuals V Christmas casuals? EVERYONE PLEASE READ!!

It was me that hasn't had a night off since March. It does seem that we have been replaced by cheaper workers. There's also more of them. Apparently in my MC tonight, there are 94 new casuals in. Not sure if that's including the casuals already there though. So now I'm staying up and waiting for Angard to phone me. Highly doubtful of course.

So you work at Soton MC too. Likewise I get the same impression, I phoned Angard earlier and apparently they enquired via email to the Soton MC as to whether there was any Angard employees needed tonight, but hadn't got a reply yet. If it's the same situation tomorrow I'll try phoning the duty room for any information, I'd rather be told the truth rather than being left in the lurch...


Well I see it as one of 3 things either
1. Angardees will get zero work 'till after xmas.
2. Angard workers will get some very sporadic work - acting as cover for any xmas workers who may pull-out, though they probably have a whole list of back=up xmas casuals ready to be called upon.
3. The lack of work is temporary, maybe they overemployed for this weeks work, and they are using the opportunity to train the xmas casuals, and us Angard workers will resume later or next week, when the workload is more substantial.

I did 3 days training last week, passed the evaluations and was given a shift pattern, so far so good.

I must admit I was a little concerned upon reading this forum of what work I would get, but my experience has been good so far which I hope will last until or after Christmas because I will need the money, made a good account of myself though because I got an average of 93% accuracy, which was the best in my group

True but if Angard hadnt intervened all of us would have had the option of applying for the role of RM casuals

my argument is they promised us work at Christmas at our MC by letter and phone. The letter more or less said DONT apply via RM. The recruitment website, If I remember correctly, said the same. Angard phoned in Sept saying we would almost certainly get 3/4weeks at Christmas and asked which shift would we like. A month or so ago they phoned giving us a choice of shifts and the times. Two weeks ago they confirmed the shifts starting - 26th Nov. On Tuesday 27th they were all cancelled.

WE WERE PREVENTED FROM JOINING RM as a normal Xmas casual by a letter and their website. AFAIK RM casuals are earning significantly more than £6.19 on nights at my MC. I got more in previous years both for RM and Angard, plus it's more of a guaranteed job as has been proven. I would have liked, and think I had a right, to the opportunity to do this, along with the entire British adult popluation. The only people prevented from doing so are Angard Flexible Resource workers. There being no intervention from Angard or being told we may get the odd shift at Xmas (at a higher rate than RM casuals) would have been advantageous to us. Also there is nothing ilegal about getting a job via RM direct and staying on Angards books

So The biggest argument I have is not that pre booked shifts werer cancelled, though that's pretty unfair in the circumstances, but that were denied the chance of working directly for RM, something everybody else had.

As I haven't worked for over 6 weeks I guess my AWR status is recinded, however the opportunity to earn some extra cash this year even at min wage will pay some bills and buy some presents.

The main beef is that i'm not getting ANY work! If I had know this was going to be the case back in Oct when I first wrote to Angard asking about Christmas I could have looked for other Christmas work even at the local supermarkets....these jobs have now gone. BECAUSE OF A LETTER!!!

I too received a letter [undated] from the elusive Sam Slater on the 10/08/2012.

He/she must be brought to account for the following:
* Making an empty, deceiful promise of more shifts being offered to Angard staff over the Christmas period. This is clearly a lie.
* Persuading us not to apply to Royal Mail as Christmas casuals by giving us all totally false information

Such actions are illegal and against EU employment legislation. Moya Greene, CEO of RM Group needs to be emailed about this dreadful inequitable situation forthwith.

Angard Staffing Solutions are actively discriminating AGAINST their own employees in collusion? with Royal Mail, have given totally false information as in the empty promises in Sam Slater's letter and have to face industrial tribunal proceedings.

Moya Greene must be informed about the misinformation, empty promises and lies in Sam Slater's LETTER [Account Manager] which all Angard staff received in August 2012.
This is evidence of a breach of contract. Angard must face court proceedings. They were not prosecuted last year for the payroll fiasco and incompetence but now have to face up to this blatant discriminatory employment practice.
