Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Last Friday I rang the 'Xmas Team' on 01604629381 as it had been nearly five weeks since my interview on the 7th October in Glasgow and I had heard nothing from Angard. When I finally got through the member of staff that took my call couldn't have been more helpful. He went through my details, saw that I had passed the security checks, then he asked me when I wanted to start and what shift I wanted! And I was told that it would be a 6 day week(Mon-Sat) rather than 5. It was all sorted out in a couple of minutes. A few minutes later I got an email confirming my start date and my hours. So my advice is if you've passed the security checks phone Angard as soon as possible.

What is your start date and what shift? and what was your original start date when you went to the registration event?Buk1972 wrote:Last Friday I rang the 'Xmas Team' on 01604629381 as it had been nearly five weeks since my interview on the 7th October in Glasgow and I had heard nothing from Angard. I start on the 28th - the date I was given at the registration event - on the late(1400-2200) shift.mahrm1 wrote:What is your start date and what shift? and what was your original start date when you went to the registration event?Buk1972 wrote:Last Friday I rang the 'Xmas Team' on 01604629381 as it had been nearly five weeks since my interview on the 7th October in Glasgow and I had heard nothing from Angard. Don't forget Tax and NI - You have to pay that.asteele3 wrote:Mine still says security checks passed! I'll have to phone them later (if it isn't a robot at the other end!) and ask what the hecks going on! My interview was on the 17th October and it's coming to a month fast and still nothing heard. I was given a provisional offer that I'd work from the 26th of November - 23rd of December from 14:00 - 22:00 and they said I should hear from them in a few weeks!
Should I wait it out until the weekend? Or should I just ring them now and see where my application is at?!
I think the pay is quite good, £4.98 an hour so I'd get £40 a day and £200 a week times by 4-5 and it's around £800 - £1000 which for what would be my first EVER job, not bad, then I can get my telescope as a christmas present which costs £750!
Thanks.

I only pay tax if I earn over 20,000 and I might pay the odd fiver for NI but that's not much!

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
If you're still with Angard when you reach 21, it'll go up to £6.08 per hour, unless the Government decide to increase the minimum wage before then. I'm not trying to be funny. But the rate of pay shouldn't really be seen as an incentive to pick Angard, rather than any other Agency. Having said that, you ARE right that you'll not earn enough to pay any Tax, but will have to pay National Insurance. Just make sure you get your Tax Code sorted out, or the Inland Revenue will charge you Basic Rate Tax, which is quite high. If this happens, you'll get it all back, once you've sorted out the Tax Code. But it's best to avoid it happening in the first place, then you don't have to wait ages for a Tax rebate.asteele3 wrote:I only pay tax if I earn over 20,000 and I might pay the odd fiver for NI but that's not much!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Don't forget Tax and NI - You have to pay that.asteele3 wrote:Mine still says security checks passed! Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
I don't get it. I phoned twice now and was told both times to wait for them to call me. They haven't, and I'm supposed to be starting 22nd at Southampton (according to prov offer).
Why do some people get given start dates when they call Angard and others just get told to wait. Does it depend on how good your voice sounds over the phone??? It also seems to me, that the more effort
you put into getting this job, the LESS chance you have. I have a friend who works as a DOM at the Royal Mail, he has no influence on Angard, but when I told him what's been happening, he was truly
embarrassed. I'm losing hope.

Yeah, don't give up hope people - I think they've been a bit disorganised with the mixed messages the website has given out, and slow to get around to contacting people, but I did FINALLY get the call this afternoon; apparently I start on the 28th :)

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Called today and a helpful guy searched for my application - he advised that they are only contacting people 2 weeks before they start (a lot less if you look at posts here). He said that as my provisional date is 5 December, i would get a confirmed offer by email at the start of w/c 21 November....let's see. If I hear nothing on the Monday they're getting an annoying call every day from this fed up applicant.
Incidentally, a friend advised me that a lot of retail stores have abandoned plans to take on additional staff for Christmas due to the Agency Worker Regulations - exactly what Angard were set up to address - instead they are offering their part -time workers extra hours and their full-time workers overtime. Doesn't do a lot for the jobless tho'

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Finally managed to get through to the Christmas team after about 20 mins of it ringing out. I start on Monday
My interview was 29th of September, and my application has been saying I had passed the security checks for a while now.
Thanks a lot for providing the contact numbers as I'm sure I would have still been waiting to hear from them come January.
